Fen Ditton and Marleigh Specific and Related

Newmarket Road Resurfacing – Combining with GCP work

The senior County officer for resurfacing has informed me that resurfacing of the stretch of road near Marleigh and Fen Ditton is not currently planned until or after major works planned as part of Greater Cambridge Partnership’s Cambridge Eastern Access Project (Includes Park and Ride Site Movement) within 18 months to 2 years. So costly resurfacing now would likely just be dug up and redone in many locations.

LHI High Ditch Road

Will now have been scored by officers on the non-complex route. If successful then funding for the 25/26 year would be voted to be approved in October this year.

MVAS Training

It is now necessary to get a training course in order to fit MVAS (speed monitors) units to lamposts! This teaches volunteers how to assess lamposts. For example to assess when they are at risk of collapse or overloading and preventing electrocutions. I have sent out a link to a recommended training course from Alan Hitch to Indira. I am exploring with Alan and Micheal how it might be possible to bring the cost of these new courses down, for example bulk ordering or volunteers for multiple villages.

County Council Wide:

Pharmacy Services Feedback

Residents of Fen Ditton are invited to give feedback on local pharmacy services as part of a consultation run by Peterborough Council on behalf of Cambridgeshire and Peterborough. The survey, open until 20 September, will help identify gaps and shape future services. Residents can use www.peterborough.gov.uk/pna to take part – it’s confidential and takes 10–15 minutes.

Match My Project

Cambridge County Council has joined Match My Project. Parish Councils can use https://matchmyproject.org/ to apply for help and support from major council contractors free of charge. The example given was a wooden outdoor shelter for a community organisation fixed by Kier. This might be a useful portal to attempt to get a small project completed cost free.

Survey on Highways:

The National Highways and Transport (NHT) Public Satisfaction survey is open. It is a representative survey of 3300 residents to gain feedback on perceptions on Highways and Transport across the country. If you or a friend is asked to complete it, please encourage them to complete it.
