Construction of the Ditton Lane footway scheme has been progressing well but … the contractors have faced numerous issues with services in the verge conflicting with the installation of the new retaining walls and relocated street lighting. This has meant the works programme is behind time – we’re now looking at Friday, 13 September as our (almost) completion date.
During the school summer holidays our contractors worked extended hours but over the coming two weeks they’ll be restricted to 9.30 to 2.00/2.30pm. This should limit queuing and congestion. We don’t anticipate the closure of High Ditch Road (from 9 Sept) will have a very great impact on traffic flows.
FYI the Horningsea Greenway works will restart on 16 September in Fen Ditton once our extra two weeks are over and the bulk of our works have been completed. However, we will need to return in the October Half Term week to finish off street lighting and surfacing (several lighting columns to be moved back and final footway surfacing to be completed).
