An update on our work to replace pipes
Just a quick update following our recent letter about replacing sewer pipes in the area.
The new pipe will reduce the risk of bursts and leaks causing potential pollution and interruption to our customers sewerage services.
What have we done so far?
We’ve laid 460 metres of new pipes between Fen Road and Green End using a mix of digging and underground drilling.
We’re keeping things moving and will soon reach the point where we need to thread a new pipe through the existing sleeve under the railway. To do this, we’ll use tankers to keep everything flowing as normal. Once we’ve emptied the pipe, we’ll check inside with a camera before sliding in the new one. After that, we’ll test it and connect it to the network.
If everything goes to plan, we should be done by the end of March.
What this means for you
To connect the new pipe, we’ll need to move wastewater using tankers so your services continue as usual.
-
The tanker work will start on Monday 03 March and run 24/7 for five days.
-
The tankers will wait in the red-marked area on the map overleaf before travelling between the pumping station at Green End and the water recycling centre.
-
They’ll rotate continuously to keep everything running smoothly.
If you live along the tankering route, you’ll notice the tankers passing through. So thanks in advance for bearing with us while we do this important work.
There won’t be any road closures or traffic lights, but one of our team will be on-site to supervise their movements.
